How payments are processed

Cognito Forms are processed by PayPal and Stripe. You will be required to have a PayPal or Stripe account in good standing in order to collect and process payments.

Both PayPal and Stripe offer a highly competitive 2.9% + $0.30 on all transactions in USD. On Stripe, there is an additional 1% charge from Cognito Forms for those on the Individual or Pro plans. These processing fees can be passed on to the individual filling out the form, unless your form's payment currency does not match the currency of your Stripe account.

In PayPal, funds should be processed and transferred into your bank account within 3 - 4 days. In Stripe, funds are deposited into your bank account on a rolling two-business-day schedule, after an initial seven-day waiting period. That means payments processed on Friday will be deposited on Tuesday, and payments processed on Tuesday will be deposited on Thursday, except on U.S. federal holidays. However, it may take an additional day for your bank to process the deposit and for the funds to appear in your account. Get more information on transfers from PayPal and Stripe.

Entries

All payments can be managed within the “Entries” section of your Cognito Form. You can see entry details, refund payments, and even collect cash payments without ever leaving Cognito Forms. Any modifications made, such as refunding, will be automatically reflected within the connected PayPal/Stripe account, and modifications made within PayPal/Stripe will be reflected within Cognito Forms.
